Buy Rare Japanese-Contract 1938 Mauser Online
This is a very nice example of a rare Japanese-contract Mauser K98 manufactured in 1938. It has all of proper features for this little-known variation, such as “42” code on the receiver, Mauser banner on the left side of the butt stock, and it is in the proper “u-y” suffix serial range. This one is entirely matching, including the stock.
Unfortunately, the front end of the stock has been duffle-cut. The metal parts have retained somewhere between 85-90% of their original finish. There is wear around the muzzle, along the right side of the barrel, on the barrel bands, and on the floor plate / trigger group. Spotty oxidation here and there, heaviest on the butt plate, on the floor plate, and on the barrel. Excellent wood stock, but there are some spots of dark staining here and there. Mint bore. This particular gun comes from the estate of WW2 USMC Quartermaster, Sgt. Richard Foster.
